I still find the exercises valuable. The idea of March Matness is exactly that: To revisit the roots of the Pilates system... Although I agree that a lot has changed in our lives and so it makes sense to adapt the system. I am finding, for example, that there's too little focus on the upper body to counter our hunched postures...

Though maybe not as much has changed as we think? At least according to Natalie Petrzela's take in her book "Fit Nation," there was quite an angst going around Joe Pilates' time (post-WWI) that (white) men were getting too sedentary... The worry was that they wouldn't be able to fight anymore if they'd get fat from their desk jobs... It's a fascinating history (and now I want to dig more into her book again...).

Sorry that I hadn't thought about sharing this earlier! Yes, I plan to do it using Joe's "Return to Life" as my guide (and modifying the heck out of some of the more challenging ones...)

Yes! This was a real nice one, especially for my knee stability!

Are you planning to do a challenge for March Matness, Liz (Pilates for Runners) ? Someone on a NHS Health Unlocked forum reminded me of this event initiated by Benjamin Degenhardt over 10 years ago, although it seems to have taken on a life of its own now... It involves doing one (or two) of the exercises of the classical Mat sequence (see photo montage of Degenhardt doing them). ย  More info is here: https://marchmatness.com/

Okay, I gotta brag... I had a class at the Pilates studio yesterday - Mat & Tower. I am the newbie in that advanced class, so when we were doing airplane, the teacher was right next to me. To my amazement, I could do it fairly well!

If you want to see how it is done (I am not there yet! I used far too much arm power...): https://youtu.be/WWzeLyBEmn8?si=TV3KvhzvFRkiyNIw&t=81

Congratulations to all who managed PBs (or helped others to them)!ย

My second take of my post-Covid re-entry into running is going well, so I am happy with that. I am also proud to have completed this week's kick start videos, surprising myself that I find the energy to do them. I did opt for more rest Friday morning instead of going to a Wunda Chair class at the local studio...
